The brand new iOS 17 system arrived as scheduled. The most anticipated aspect of iOS 17 is the introduction of new features. Without further ado, let’s take a look together.
1.Landscape Standby
In iOS 17 features, a new feature called “Standby” mode is introduced, bringing a whole new experience to iPhones. After enabling Standby mode, the iPhone will display a clock, Apple Home controls, weather information, music controls, smart app stacks, and other features by default. When in landscape mode, the iPhone becomes a smart display, providing useful information that remains on screen.
It’s important to note that this standby mode requires the iPhone to be connected to a power source.
2.Contact Posters
In the iOS 17 features system, the Phone app has further enriched its personalization options by introducing Contact Posters. Users can customize the way these posters are displayed, and different posters will be shown when receiving calls, giving a fresh look to the calling experience. You can choose beautiful photos or personalized facial expression options, as well as eye-catching layouts and font colors.
3.NameDrop for AirDrop
Apple has updated AirDrop and introduced a feature called “NameDrop.” By simply bringing two iPhones together or placing an iPhone and an Apple Watch in contact with each other, you can use NameDrop to send your email address, phone number, and “poster” to the other iPhone.
4.Interactive Widgets
After upgrading to iOS 17, home screen widgets can finally be interacted with directly, rather than just displaying information. You can now perform tasks, play/pause music, control smart home devices, and more directly from the home screen widgets.
5.Simpler Siri
In the new iOS 17 features system, “Hey Siri” has been simplified to just “Siri.” Now, you only need to say “Siri” to wake it up, and it can recognize subsequent commands.
6.Journal: Standalone Note-taking App
Journal is a brand new “note-taking” app introduced in iOS 17. It allows you to add detailed information to entries that include photos, music, recordings, etc., and mark important moments. It also provides personalized moment suggestions based on your photos, music, exercises, etc., for you to record.
7.iMessage Upgrades
iMessage has added voice-to-text transcription, location sharing, and secure check-ins. With the check-in feature, you can share your location with family and friends, and they will receive a message when you arrive home.
iMessage has also added sticker functionality, allowing you to turn images into animated stickers that can be used within iMessage messages. Third-party apps also support this feature.
8.FaceTime
The FaceTime calling app now supports audio and video messages. When the call recipient is unavailable, you can leave a message for them to enjoy later. Additionally, FaceTime has added Reactions, allowing users to express emotions with hearts, balloons, fireworks, lasers, rain, and more. Users can trigger these new effects with simple gestures, and this feature also supports third-party video calling apps.
9.Smarter Keyboard
Apple has improved the keyboard input method in iOS 17 features, enhancing the autocorrect feature, introducing predictive input, and improving voice recognition accuracy. Apple has upgraded to a new language model, simplified existing shortcuts, and enhanced dictation functionality.
These are the main updates in the iOS 17 system. What do you think?
